Prices high and falling? Check.
Demand low and falling? Check.
Supply reaching new highs? Check.
Great, let's bring on another 22,000 supply units to really get this party started! :naughty:

Councillor welcomes fast-tracking of housing development
On Friday 3 September 2010, 7:22

A Sunshine Coast councillor says a possible plan by the Queensland Government to fast-track two major housing developments in the region is a "win" for housing affordability.

Planning and Infrastructure minister Stirling Hinchliffe is considering "calling in" a Caloundra residential development so there are no more delays in its approval.

He may also direct council to hand over planning control for the 22,000-home Caloundra South development as the process has taken too long.

Councillor Anna Grosskreutz welcomes the decision.

"They will bring forward items based on housing affordability," she said.

"People need places to live and they need to be able to afford to live here and these have been taking some time.

"They are very big planning issues but at some stage we need to make a decision and I know that the Government is starting to lose a little bit of patience in that regard."
