Here is an old colonial house up for ebay auction at 17 Palmerston St Aeroglen Cairns. Bid price is currently $75,000 with 7days 17 hours to go.

http://cgi.ebay.com....atchlink:top:en

Here is a real estate ad for the house. The owners are asking for $629,000 wish price.

http://www.homehound...airns+qld+4870/

Let's keep track of the auction. If the owners get their wish price then the spring market is hot and if not....perhaps the housing market is cooling down in Cairns?

Or perhaps more likely if wish price is not met, will the owners default on the ebay auction if the real price does not meet their expectations?

Real estate is cooling in Cairns. Hope you like Jet noise. With the hill at your back think waking the dead jet noise.

I'm thinking 250m from the Runway. First jets don't arrive until 0430-0500 and last depart around 0100.

How far from airport?

Nothing like an A330 from Narita at 0500 with full reverse thrust to give you a boost to your morning.

I've lived on fighter bases as a young man. With the hill at your back this is an echo of noise death.

If I was showing wildebeeste through I'd do it between 10 - 11AM and 2-4PM. Low jet traffic.

In Perth they have The Vines. Exclusive golf course estate on final Approach to RWY21. Know your air traffic noise sharing and an agent can fleece them. "Nice and quiet isn't it?".

Same for Runways 16L and 16R and 25/07 at Sydney and 01 at Brisbane.

There is no question of default. It's just an advert.

Property on ebay is different to other things.

Quote

Due to the wide variety of laws governing the sale of real estate, eBay auctions of real property are not legally binding offers to buy and sell that property. Instead, they are simply a way for sellers to advertise their real estate and meet potential buyers. At the close of the auction, the seller should contact the high bidder to discuss entering into a contract for the real property. However, neither party is obligated to complete the real estate transaction.

Nothing to get excited about.

Quite possible, sellers on ebay are now unable to give troublesome bidders any negative feedback.

I live quite close to an airport but they fly the other way so you barely notice it. Out here we only get the royal flying doctor, some small commuter planes, cropdusters etc.

And the smallest helicopter I've ever seen is out most days. My toddler went through a phase of following the yellicoppa down the street, which was a pain. I have no idea what on earth it is used for, maybe its just something someone built in their shed and it runs on two stroke.

Edit: oh, and some Christian assocation gives free flying lessons to high school students. Again, no idea why. Maybe to set them up for a career in cropdusting?

The owners appear serious. Look at the question and answer below on the ebay auction site. Bidding is now at $197,100.

IANAL, but I imagine at some point if a vendor makes enough assurances then these would constitute a contract, quite aside from the eBay fine print? Love to see it tested in court.

Probably the deadest time of the week for daylight flying activity.

Its the departures that make the racket where that house is. QF923 departs for Sydney at 2:25 on Sat, thats it, no jet arrivals.

Should make the home open from 0530 -0700 where one gets away every few minutes.
