Just when you thought it was safe to like league again. You think league had debased itself beyond all human ability surely things can only get better from here? Monaghan turns up to tell you you're wrong. A new low has been achieved. The overriding question is of course how will this affect the raiders chances next season?

Yep, and from a picture I saw (that I would rather not have) embedded in a spoof video of the proceedings, it seems to have been a simulated sex act minus the "simulated" part.

They were told to put a bit of mongrel in the team, NOT to put a bit of the team in a mongrel.

Monaghan's resigned from ARL. I thought perhaps he'd do a Carney and his career would take off from here. ;)

Almost time to watch Australia lose their eight game on the trot against sri lanka. Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oh dear...

Ashes squad announced today. In a sneak preview of a likely batting line up, Ricky Ponting was photographed at a 'team building camp' with the top 7 likely batsman.

That is a classic TP.
Mind you, I'm not advocating cruelty to animals or anything like that!!! :shocking:
Interesting how cats always seem to feature in this video's.
There was this one that did the rounds a couple of years ago.

As for the Australian cricket team. :crybaby:
They would need to improve quite a lot to win back the ashes.
Although I have been impressed with our bowling stocks.
Young Doherty looks promising.
As well as Mitchell Starc.
Just finished reading a book that someone lent me on the Dominators. Alan Border into Steve Waugh era. Interesting read.
A team which included players like Justin Langer, Adam Gilchrist, Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, Steve & Mark Waugh.
10 straight Test victories. Take a while to beat that record.
I'm looking forward to the tests, but I'm not putting the house on them, to win.

Very good.

It's another summer of test cricket! The only game watched by and now played by 40 YO men. :) I for one am looking forward to several months of zen time under the guise of "listening to the cricket". Xmas with the folks a chore? Politely make your excuses that you must listen to the cricket! It's absolutely an acceptable excuse. It would indeed be unaustralian not to do it. Take a good book with you by all means - it's you time. :)

My $1200 on England is looking safer than a AAA rated govt bond.

Todays scores from Shield and Aus A:

Watson 6, Katich1, Hussey 0, Khawaja 13, Ferguson 7, North 17, Haddin 10, Hauritz 0

Has Glenn McGrath predicted the whitewash yet?

I'm going to be getting pissed in the stands at the Gabba during the first test, the beer will taste a bit sweeter if the Poms are also getting hammered.

McGrath has indeed. The beer will be bitter, as it should be. :P

Gilchrist is a realist.

There is always the added impetus of playing the poms. There was a saying that if you took twelve guys at random off Bondi beach they'd lift against the english. Looks like Hauritz will be bowling in Brissy. The pitch will be lush. Should take spin well (even better than usual). Wish we had a decent spinner. One thing should be noted and that is if we lose badly then Punters head should be sought. Enough with the chances. A bit of renewal as TP has rightly said is long overdue.

I reckon the teams are evenly matched therefore I boldly predict that whoever wins the first test will run away with the series and win easily!

My logic is that:

a) The Poms are not nearly as good as they think they are. If they lose the first test their confidence could drain away and they end up taking their usual (on Australian soil) hammering.

B) If Australia lose the first test then there's even more pressure on the team with changes likely for the 2nd test. I think the guys being talked about as replacements aren't that crash hot - look at their first class averages - and it would be a big ask to make your debut under Ashes pressure in a losing side. It could easily go totally pear-shaped after a loss at the Gabba.\

I'll probably make an ass of myself with that prediction ... what odds on a 2-2 draw?

Any draw was $6 last time I bet.

Look at this bloke. 24yo, tall, quick, swings and seams both ways with now 51 wickets in his 8th shield game and not on the selectors radar.

Yeah. Worth a 13th man selection, if not an actual spot in the team.
Whilst I'm a queenslander and therefore a little parochial about Trent's performance against the Bulls, I still think he has to come into the selector's sights at some time. A fine talent.

Who do you see as our up and coming batsmen?
