so the butcher bird with a few claws missing has not returned lately.

Sunday morning I went out to get the paper as I do, and there were 3 magpies and a butcher bird screaming on the front deck for meat scraps.

the butcher birds are becoming reliant on me. I fear I'm giving them diabetes, or heart disease.

I just got delivered this deal, give me time and I'll load some amazing frog, butterfly, bird photos (can't find a better deal globally BTW with the two lenses)...

Was just outside watching the possum faffing about in a tree and a sugar glider flew right through the beam of the torch. Only got to see him for a few seconds. Man those dudes can fly good. Sweet looking little guy.

Went fishing today with son and his friend. Throwing cast nets to get some nice 6in mullet and the odd live prawn as live bait. I have a bucket ecosystem with aeration. casts 1,2,3,4,5,6 yield prawns, LOTS of prawns, no mullet.

Instead of continuing this prawn win we go fishing.

4 rods out live prawns swimming....zot.

3 Crown drunk over 3 hours, reel in prawns alive and throw into ecobucket.

Home. 2kg of fresh prawns with 000 island.

I call it a win.

I thought that was bower birds. Lyrebirds do the mimicry thing which is even cooler than the peg stealing.

Bingo! Got myself a satin bower bird. (Well the neighbours have the bower) But we have the tree which the females prefer. 6+ females our man is a bit of a stud. I'm leaving blue sh*t out for him to help him along. If I can get photos of the beast I will, meanwhile here's his bower. It's pretty cool. A foot high and a foot wide.

Congratulations SC.
They are an amazing structure, and you are fortunate to be able to observe one at close range.
Isn't it amazing in 1000's of years of building them, they have not extended to two or three bedrooms, with ensuites, and the like.
The only thing that has changed is the colour of the decor (blue), and the upgrade to "plastic" floor-coverings.
Now, if only humans could learn a lesson, in necessity versus aesthetics, from our friendly bower birds. (Maybe all birds for that matter!)

If bower birds ruled the earth... Oh I really like the blue thanks Interior decorating would be a doddle.
