Totally off topic.
Righto here is a new problem. 100-200 people starting to rot. The situation is such that dodgy ones like the Gand Chancellor will have to get knocked down.
Then, pick up the pieces. Any of you smelled rotting bodies? Unlike the rat found as a kid?
These folks need a respectful handling. Pull on the arm and it comes off in your hand territory now.
Say your prayers now for the malti national rescue teams that will see stuff that will haunt them for life.
PS The rescue teams need the prayers now
Agree TP/Bernie.
Without wanting to sound macabre, some people will never be discovered because they will have decayed beyond recognition before the recovery teams reach them.
Having spent time with police, ambulance and firies, some of their stories are horrific.
There are sights that every rescue team dreads.
I'm sure they have already seen horrendous things in the aftermath in Christchurch.
I think we have made the point, and probably need to leave this subject there, as this is a public forum.
I am trying to be a little sensitive for those who have lost loved ones in this tragedy.
Tor,
I agree.
New Zealanders courageously live with earthquakes every day.
But while we can accept that disasters happen, and are a part of the reality of life, I doubt we are ever fully prepared for them. And I have no doubt that the people in Napier that lost loved ones in that quake, still grieve them 80 years on.
And finally, I can't speak for others, but I think it is the intensity and speed of the changes in the Mediterranean, that have caught people off-guard. Some of us who have an interest in what is always happening around the Middle East, and were aware that tensions were rising, but this has all happened in the space of just 3 weeks.
