Am in Adelaide and have the evening of the 19th free. Staying at North Terrace which I guess is Adelaide central.

Anyone free for drinks, food etc?

Sounds great. Could maybe have a quick drink after work?

w00t! Don't know the address of the place I am working but I assume it is city oriented.

As first responder you get to choose where.

I knew you'd say that... today I have all the vitality and inspiration of a wet bathmat.

I would normally have suggested the Belgian Beer Cafe, but I went there a couple of weeks ago for a Xmas do and it was awful, overpriced and generally horrible. So no matter how tempting it sounds, not there.

So I'll get back to you on that (no, seriously!) - or better still, any suggestions from other Adelaideians?

To be honest an awful overpriced and generally horrible place is going to be better than a hotel room and a bottle of scotch :)

You do make a powerful case... but I am still pretty sure I can think of somewhere better. Eventually.

A cook friend is asking around for decent places too, her recommendations will likely need bookings though. Surely there are more than just you in adelaide. Isn't RE down that way too?

i will not be attending based on your use of sensible, but unconventional date nomenclature. that, and I won't be in Adelaide.

let the forum know when you are in brisneyland and we can catch up. i suggest dinner in the Scottish restaurant in Edward street followed by drinks at the richlands tavern.

Sir Walter just about covered it -

I wish I loved the Human Race;
I wish I loved it's silly face;
I wish I liked the way it walks;
I wish I liked the way it talks;
And when I'm introduced to one,
I wish I thought "What jolly fun!"

He didn't have a lot to say about strip clubs, though.

Bump...

So, the turnout is looking a little light-on at this stage. Any other takers?

Right then.

Belgian Beer cafe it is.
It's a red brick edifice at 27 Ebenezer Place, just off the bottom end of Rundle St east, in the city square mile. Easy walking distance from the mall.

Six pm for drinks, and if anyone doesn't like the place, there is always the Stag/Exeter/Austral/Universal etc nearby.

I'll be carrying the Real Estate guide from last weekend's Advertiser in lieu of the more traditional red carnation in the lapel.
