has anyone here tried his/her hand at making bacon? i'm eager to give it a go but since we just bought a ton of the stuff at costco i'm forbidden to begin my experimenting until at least half of the current supply is gone...

i haven't found a bacon in australia that i really like (i'm sure that there are good bacons, only they are probably expensive as hell), so might as well see if i can do better...

I don't think the twitter format will suit him. It's much harder to completely contradict yourself with the word limit.

    I think he'll adapt:
    - never a better time to buy
    - prices are up so good time to buy
    - prices are down so good time to buy
    - buy now
    - supply is increasing and as demand is down prices will go up
    - good buying in the poor suburbs
    - good buying in the rich suburbs
    - interest rates are up so you should buy
    - interest rates are down so you should buy
    - interest rates on hold perfect time to buy

I think there should be a Dr. Ando app.

In fact maybe there already is...

i thought the property doubles every 7 years was the lotto win part of the plan.

this chick is concentrating on western melbourne. i thought that was one of the hardest hit parts of melbourne?

There is a big build up of inventory in the west with more coming on the market. Rents are cheap but buying prices haven't started markedly dropping. It would be interesting to see the time to sell in the area.

I took a scenic flight around the bay on the weekend and Melbourne really does have plenty of space for more housing.

And it's not just Brisbane's rents that have gone up. There has been a 13% increase in rents for popular suburbs in Sydney and Melbourne too.

My rent in Melbourne went up this year by a whopping $5 a week which is sub 1.5%. It's lucky I don't drink coffee.

With respect, Wim, but why would anyone go to Renmark when they don't have to? I lived in the Riverland for a few years, it's a nice place and the people are great but the region is not really such a tourist drawcard as all that.

I'm not sure what hardcore desert you might be referring to, either - it's mallee country (wheat/sheep), or better, most of the way.

Ruffian - I assumed the holiday would start from the wedding on the coast road in Vic and end in Canberra so wasn't meaning destinations so much as route. The hardcore desert I was talking about this route missing is Port Augusta to the west or the road to Broken Hill to the north, actually a fair chunk of SA is hardcore desert but my proposal misses that.

Ugg - I have driven across the Nullabor 3 times in the past 3 years and it deserves to be more famous amongst the locals. For me it's only beaten by the road from Gippsland to Jindabyne.
